Roulette at Montecasino

Roulette is a fast paced and exciting game. It looks really complicated but in reality Roulette is an easy game to play. When you first approach a roulette table you may be put off by the noise and the hustle and bustle of other players throwing bets to the dealer. The big stacks of chips make the game look quite daunting.

A Roulette table consists of a wheel with 37 numbered compartments, a layout with the same numbers on, some chips and a dealer with a small white ball. In a nutshell the dealer spins the ball around the wheel, and when it drops into the winning number, pays bets that you have placed on the layout that cover that winning number. As a player has to make two decisions; how much to play and which numbers?

At first you can just play numbers that are special to you like your mother's birthday or the date you got your new car etc. To ensure that players get paid for their own bets the table has different colour chips for each player which can be used instead of cash chips to place bets.

There are many different places to put your chips on a Roulette table. The simplest one is straight up on the number. If you think number 8 is going to come in on the next spin you can put a chip on number 8. If it comes in you win 35 times what you have wagered. R10 would win you R350. If you don't feel confident putting a chip on just one number you can cover 2 numbers. That's called a split. Lets say you think 8 or 11 might come in you can put a chip where the two numbers join. If either number comes in you win 17 times what you wagered. R10 would win you R170.

The more numbers your chip covers the more chance you have of getting a payout but remember the payout is smaller the more numbers you cover. The next betting position is called a street. This covers three numbers in a horizontal row. So if you think 4, 5 or 6 will be the next number you can place you chip where the outside number meets the dozen. This bet pays 11 times your stake. R10 win R110.

The next betting position is a corner. This covers four numbers in a block so for example If you wanted to cover 1, 2, 4 and 5 you would place a chip at the cross were all four numbers meet. This bet pays 8 to 1. R10 pays R80.

Similar to a street is a 6 line. This bet covers two streets. So to cover 4, 5, 6 and 7, 8, 9 you would place your bet on the T junction were the two streets meet the dozen. This bet pays 5 to 1. R10 pays R50.

Round the outside of the numbers on the roulette layout are the outside chances. These bets cover either a third or half the wheel. At the bottom of the table we have the columns. These bets cover the 12 numbers above them. If one of these numbers comes in your bet gets paid 2 to 1. R50 pays R100. Dozens are similar to columns except the bet covers the 12 numbers to the side of the bet, the 1st 12 numbers, the 2nd 12 numbers and the 3rd 12 numbers. Again these bets pay 2 to 1. If zero comes in these bets lose.

Next to the dozens we have the even money bets. They are as simple as they look. Red or black, odd or even, high or low - they pay even money so R50 would pay R50. If zero comes in you lose half your bet.

On Roulette your bet lasts one spin and will either win or lose, however because Roulette is such a fast paced game there will be another spin as soon as the dealer has paid all the winners from the previous spin. Don't be intimidated, if you aren't sure the dealer is there to help you.

Good luck
