Mamma Mia! South Africa Supports Breast Cancer Awareness Month
In many parts of the world the month of October is dedicated to educating, informing and recognizing the risks associated with breast cancer. Internationally, MAMMA MIA! has a close and long standing connection with the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, the result of a chance mid-air meeting between the hit musical's creator, producer JUDY CRAYMER, and the charity's founder EVELYN LAUDER, of Estée Lauder Companies Inc.
During October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the trademark pink ribbon promoting breast cancer awareness will be on sale at The Teatro at Montecasino at weekend performances of MAMMA MIA! Part of the Estée Lauder South Africa’s breast cancer awareness campaign is to reach approximately 200 000 people through the Pink Ribbon campaign. By selling these pink ribbons at MAMMA MIA! weekend performances, the show hopes to extend the reach of the Estee Lauder Companies’ Breast Cancer campaign. In addition, bookmarks giving education information will be handed out at the opening night performance.
This month the South African production joins many MAMMA MIA! productions across the globe in the fight against breast cancer.
