Bryan Hill has been actively involved in the South African theatre industry for the last twenty seven years. Zimbabwean-born Bryan began performing at the age of ten and trained as a singer, dancer and actor. In the early 1980s he appeared at the State Theatre in productions of Evita and Joseph and The Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat as well as several SATV variety specials. In 1985 he joined the Department of Musical Theatre at the Natal Playhouse where he worked on several major musical productions over the next eight years.
In 1993 he began a highly successful career as a freelance Director and Choreographer. Productions from this time include Showboat, Buddy, The King And I, Oklahoma, Jesus Christ Superstar In Concert, The Wizard Of Oz, West Side Story, Ain't Misbehavin and Fiddler On The Roof, to name a few. In 1999 he joined Richard Loring Enterprises and became Dance Director for African Footprint until 2005. It was in 2006, during his work on We Will Rock You as Resident Director, that the opportunity to become General Manager of the Teatro at Montecasino presented itself. The Teatro opened with the acclaimed production of The Lion King in 2007, thus beginning a new chapter in both Bryan's career and in South African theatre. |
