Showtime and Kaya FM Proudly Present
Hugh Masekela has graced the South African music scene for more than five decades. Internationally, he has played on stages of the Hollywood Bowl, Carnegie Hall, Royal Albert Hall and at the finest Jazz festivals including the Montreaux Jazz Festival and the Cape Town International Jazz Festival.
Hailed around the world for his talented performances and collaborations with the likes of Paul Simon, Simply Red, Bob Marley and Stevie Wonder, trumpeter and flugelhorn master, Hugh Masekela returns to The Teatro at Montecasino for two concerts only, presented in association with Kaya FM 95.9, on Thursday, 8 July and Friday, 9 July 2010 commencing at 20h00.

His musical vocabulary has encompassed salsa, samba, mbaqanga, jazz, rock and soul, rhythm and blues, reggae, hi-life, kwassa-kwassa and any combination of these he sees fit to engage. He's worked on projects that span from The Rumble In The Jungle to Sarfina! In this time he's also been a father, an activist, a lover, a joker, an outlaw, and above all an artist who has overcome adversity and personal challenges.
Bra Hugh will perform all-time favourites like "Stimela", "Thanayi", "Happy Mama", "Lady", and "Grazing In The Grass" with his band featuring Erick Paliani on guitar, Lee-Roy Sauls on drums, Fana Zulu on bass and Randal Skippers on keyboards.

The The Teatro at Montecasino has been acoustically designed for large scale musical productions. It can accommodate 1 900 people at full capacity, making it the largest theatre in South Africa, and one of the 10 largest lyric theatres in the world.
