The Parlotones
On September 8, the remaining nine Idols finalists will perform live at The Teatro Montecasino with none other than Ash, The Parlotones and The Black Hotels.
It should be an interesting concert, which will test the mettle of the contestants, who many regard as flash-in-the-pan television stars, as opposed to genuine musicians.
British indie legends, Ash, have sold 8 million CDs worldwide and will be in South Africa to tour with The Parlotones on their national tour. Ash would have also just finished playing Reading, one of the world's biggest rock music events. The Parlotones have previously toured with Ash all over the UK. This concert forms part of The Parlotones's worldwide tour .
As for The Black Hotels, they are the best alternative indie band in South Africa.
Now, whether these nine hopeful Idols participants can pull it off is debatable. Judging by the talentless bunch from previous years, I doubt whether they will.
The September 8 concert is brought to fans by M-Net and Jacaranda FM.
The Parlotones seem to be firmly behind Idols this year, with vocalist Kahn Morbee a judge on the show in the elimination round on September 5. His band will also play live on Idols on another elimination show on September 7.
The Parlotones return to The Teatro at Montecasino on 10 and 11 September with the KZN Youth Orchestra & The Black Hotels for another performance.
