Warm up this winter to the hot and spicy beat of Lady Salsa's sizzling Cuban rhythms for a limited two–week season only at the Teatro at Montecasino. The show that Kylie Minogue described as "everything you need for a wild night out, high energy dancing that takes your breath away, hot Cuban beats from a great Salsa band, and some of the most gorgeous dancers you would ever dream of seeing", opens on the 25th July 2009.
Cuba - an island in the Caribbean Sea the shape of a crocodile biting the foot of America. Walk those streets you can hear her music in every doorway... she's a melting pot, sassy, complicated and sensual. Lady Salsa is the Spirit of Cuba, a hot and raunchy performance of Cuba's hottest dancers and authentic Salsa band.
Cuba is the indisputable cradle of modern salsa, the hot, spicy Afro-Caribbean rhythms. In Cuba during times of slavery, Africans brought their rhythms and ritual dance to Cuba, here they were blended with Spanish guitars and melodies to create the fabulous sound of the Salsa Band.
Lady Salsa is a spicy Cuban dance and musical spectacular that interweaves the history of the revolution with the history of Cuban music and dance tracing its roots through earthy slave rhythms, the courtly danzón of the nineteenth century, the elegant twentieth century jazz numbers, ending with the exuberant salsa routines for which Cuba is famous today.
Trinidad Rolando, the seventy-six year old Cuban star of Lady Salsa, is captivating, lucid and is astonishingly energetic as the spellbinding character Lady Salsa. She is accompanied by an outrageously hot and sexy troupe of dancers and band direct from Havana. A hit at the World famous Edinburgh festival, on the West End, a hit in Europe and now appearing for the first time in South Africa with the support of MNET and Classic FM. Lady Salsa is the unbridled spirit of a hedonistic night out in downtown Havana – get ready for the Cuban invasion!

Theatre Information
The Teatro at Montecasino has been acoustically designed for large scale musical productions. It can accommodate 1 900 people at full capacity, making it the largest theatre in South Africa, and one of the 10 largest lyric theatres in the world.
