Born from a love of bold Mexican flavours, live music and, of course, tequila, Festival De Mexico has grown into one of South Africa’s most iconic celebrations. Eleven festivals and over 50 000 amigos later, it’s safe to say… ¡AAAAAAARIBA!

Joburg’s biggest tequila and Mexican food festival returns home to Montecasino’s Outdoor Event Area on Saturday, 2 May 2026, for the 13th instalment of South Africa’s favourite day out.

The arena will be transformed into a colour-soaked fiesta, featuring Joburg’s best Mexican street food vendors, tequila and cocktails by the plenty, a legendary piñata showdown, South Africa’s hottest chilli-eating competition, and entertainment in absolute bucket loads.

The massive line-up brings the heat, featuring Jeremy Loops, Lloyiso, Lady Zamar, Sun-El Musician, Kyle Cassim, Speedsta and El Cantante.Trust us, amigos — it’s HOT, HOT, HOT. 🔥🌮💃

Toast to your creativity and Unleash your artistic flair! On the day, try your hand at painting a beautiful sugar skull or your version of a Don Julio Tequila bottle at our sip and paint station.

R300 includes a 1 hour paint & sip session during Festival De Mexico, 1 x Skull, 1 x Don Julio Tequila.

Please note that there are 4 paint & sip sessions from 1pm to 4pm.
